Trigger Warning: Profiles in Spinelessness

You know who you are. If I believed in hell, that gulag of dead souls, you'd be on your way.

Questions

You send young men to fight and die for you, but you don't have the guts to stand up to a man who has degraded and endangered our country. You're scared ? Think they're not? They know damn well this might be their last minute on earth - yet they do their duty, do what their oath expects them to do. They faced death, took it on, fought their hearts out.. What do you face? Or is that "who"?

Did it ever occur to you that we were seriously and successfully attacked by a foreign power, a declared enemy? Isn't a commander-in-chief supposed to take action to protect us? Is it better that he stands next to the man who perpetrated the attack, and takes his word over the words of 17 intel agencies - on the international stage, yet? Since when did the FBI and CIA, organizations dedicated to keeping us safe, become the enemy?

Is it a fine thing when he yells at his top generals that they're all losers and dummies? Have you ever heard a world leader berate his own military? And, oh, yes, he saluted a North Korean general. Yes, he did, and you know he did. Is it a fine thing when he degrades a soldier who gave his life for his men, then pardons a convicted war criminal that seven SEALS testified against, swore they witnessed that he did what he was charged. So, why was he pardoned? Why was that sheriff in Arizona? You know why. For his base. It may be unfair to label them deplorables, but it's fair to say they must be the most ignorant and ill-informed people on earth. Or in severe denial.

Then there's the accusation of partisanship. Remember Mitch McConnell? The day Obama was elected McConnell publicly declared that his major goal for the next four years was to deny Obama a second term. He did everything he could to accomplish that goal. Why would he do that? For what rational reason? BTW: he skipped the war, too.

I now have a nearly eighteen month old grandson living with us. It's a wonder to watch this little fella evolve into a bona fide person. Here's my point: when my son leaves the room, if only a few minutes, his son wants him back. He wants him back so badly that tears turn into wails. He knocks on doors calling over and over, "Da-Da". So, I asked myself, "What kind of government creates a policy of deterrence by removing children from their parents?" And then lose track of them? No decent human being does that. What decent human being condones such an evil thing? Would you?

Pat Cippolini, the lead counsel for the defense, constantly stated there were no fact witnesses to the infamous phone call. Yet, listen up, he was in the room when the call was made! He was in the room! Also in  meetings many where the idea was discussed, yet has the chutzpah to stand up there before the entire country, and say there were no witnesses. How does a man do that? What causes him to believe he's immune to punishment? Or, like the rest of them, chose not to care.

It's a terrible thing, but do you know how I spend my time? I rehearse scenarios of what I'd do and say if I found myself with any one of them in the same restaurant. Even in my imagination I need to put the brakes on because I don't want jail time. Seriously, though, I doubt I could keep my mouth shut.

There's an exchange in a bar in a Saroyan play, "The Time of Our Life" (I think). Two guys are discussing things as drunks will do. One guy asks the other guy, "Would you die for your principles?" The other guy answers, "No. I might be wrong." At the end of "Body and Soul", one of the early great Hollywood boxing movies, starring John Garfield, he's supposed to throw a fight and doesn't. He knows the mob will have revenge. When he exits from dressing room to the street, he walks by the lead gangster giving him the death stare. Garfield says, "What're you gonna do, kill me? We all die." And walks away.

I know what I am saying will bother some of you. That's why I stuck to indisputable facts. I don't intend to rant and rave. That's not what this blog is for and will not be. However, I am so horrified at the precarious state of our nation. Yeah, but the stock market is up. Are wages? I am horrified that an ignorant and vengeful con man (25 million dollar fine for defrauding hard working citizens who enrolled in his phony university), a man who stiffs his contractors, who debases our values every day he's there, so disgusted and heartsick that I couldn't stay quiet.

The definition of a veteran: someone who writes a blank check to the United States for an amount up to and including his life. I am a veteran. United States Marine Corps. If I didn't say something, I would find it difficult to live with myself. Y'know, those damn principles, always giving you a hard time, getting in the way. You can argue with them, but they will finally do the right thing. Maybe.

Folks, these jokers have rolled us. You cannot hate our country so much that you want someone so immoral, so unethical, mean, and ignorant to have it.

I hope you don't mind, but I'm gonna publish it right now.

Adios.
